Meet Santa's helpers on your trip to Lapland! These majestic and beautiful animals enjoy being petted and will provide you an entertaining sleigh ride. The reindeer activities to choose from are listed below.
Night Reindeer Safari 18:00-22:00 (Tuesdays)
You can sit back and relax as your sleigh is gently pulled through the forest (approx. 12 km). You can watch the magnificent changing colours of the sky during the day or look out for the Northern Lights and stars at night. A warming break in a Lappish Kota or ‘tepee’ deep in the forest then ensues. There you will enjoy some hot drink and sweet pastries before returning to the farmstead. Return transport between Luosto and the reindeer farm is included in the price.
At Home With The Huskies and Reindeer 13:45-16:30 (Wednesdays)
An excellent opportunity to visit the homes of the cuddly huskies and friendly reindeer. At the reindeer farm you will have a relaxed ride in a reindeer pulled sleigh, learn about the animals and the life of a reindeer herder and have a chance to feed the reindeer. At the kennels, you will be given basic instructions on how to drive a dog sled. It is then time to enjoy a 1km ride driving the husky sled or just enjoying the ride as a passenger. You will then be shown around the kennels, be introduced to the dogs, learn about the different types of huskies and of course have an opportunity to meet the dogs and their cuddly puppies. Return transport between Luosto and the husky farm is included in the price. Transport options are by snowmobile or by car.
Snowmobile Safari to Reindeer Farm 15:00-18:00 (Thursdays)
This safari gives you the opportunity to sample two local forms of transport; the snowmobile and the reindeer sled. You will drive your snowmobile to a local reindeer farm where you will then drive your own reindeer sleigh. Whilst there you will see plenty of reindeer and learn how these gentle animals are an essential part of Lappish life as you warm up by the fire with a hot drink and pastries before returning to Luosto. Driving distance for a return trip: approximately 30km. Car transport available on request.
Reindeer Safari 10:00-11:30 (Saturdays)
A 5km ride through the scenic forest on a sled pulled by reindeer. The price includes return transport between Luosto and reindeer farm and pastries with a warm drink in a Lappish Kota (tepee).
